Living Space Submits Plans for New Affordable Housing Scheme on the Outskirts of Nuneaton

March 3, 2022

Living Space has submitted a Full Planning Application to Nuneaton and Bedworth Council for a 1.17Ha (2.8-acre) site on the outskirts of the North Warwickshire town of Nuneaton. The detailed plans propose 35 much-needed affordable homes.

Situated off Plough Hill Road, the site neighbours with Countryside Properties PLC’s Baberton Grange scheme, which is currently under construction. Living Space has appointed Birmingham-based BM3 Architects to draw up the plans for the proposed new development. A range of one-, two-, three-, and four-bedroom homes have been designed in a traditional architectural style, around a significant amount of Public Open Space. A sustainable water drainage strategy and new tree planting will achieve net biodiversity gains.

Paul Breen, Managing Director for Living Space said: “We are very pleased to have lodged our plans for this site, which presents a great opportunity to provide much-needed affordable homes in the semi-rural outskirts of Nuneaton. Designed in a traditional architectural style around landscaped Public Open Space, this scheme will be a great addition to the local area. Our project team is looking forward to working alongside Planning Officers, Councillors, and additional consultees while the planning application is being considered.”

Living Space’s plans for the site include eight one-bedroom homes, 12 two-bedroom designs, 12 three-bedroom homes, and three four-bedroom houses. The two-storey red and multi redbrick homes will be complemented by rendered features and red and grey roof tiles, to be in keeping with other homes nearby. 50 parking spaces will be provided for the 35 new dwellings, which have been designed to be tenure blind.

The Ofsted Outstanding-rated Galley Common Infant School is located within moments of the proposed development site. Hartshill Hayes Country Park is a mile away, while the host of amenities, shopping, and leisure attractions of the large market town of Nuneaton are only three miles away. Plough Hill Road is within easy reach of the A444 and the A5, which link up with the M42 and M6.

Nuneaton train station is also only three miles away, providing frequent services to Birmingham city centre and beyond.

Solihull-based Living Space is well underway with the groundworks and community facilities at the 72-acre Hawkesbury Canal Village development, which is also within the Borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth.

Living Space has a total of 674 residential plots under control, representing a combined value in excess of £113million. The Solihull-based business – which is the partnership arm of the WhatHouse? ‘Housebuilder of the Year’ Hayfield – is on track to deliver at least 20 developments over the next two years. The vast majority of the homes Living Space builds are delivered to Registered Providers (RPs) for affordable rent and shared ownership. Living Space sources the land, achieves Full Detailed Planning consent and builds the homes for the RP, enabling them to focus on the funding and management of high-quality homes for their residents.
